It's March! That means Women's History Month in the US, so go and get you some learnin'.

I didn't do a mid-month check-in during February (again) because... I didn't have much to share. I have been struggling to write because I have more limited energy and am obligated to use it elsewhere. This is hard and sad for me and I'm not sure what to do with that. I have a lot of ideas and stories I'd like to write, and I know the best time for me to do that is the morning. I'm going to keep trying. Not looking for advice at this point, but gratefully accept your love and support.

Also, to emphasize, this isn't a group that demands daily writing or productivity. We gently encourage one another to set goals that make sense for our own bodyminds. If that means daily writing for you, cool. If that means 5 days a week, great! If that means one sentence a week, wonderful! If that means something else entirely for you, we embrace you.

So my goal for March remains: keep trying.

February re-cap for me: I did start a new story. If you count some words I made on 29 Feb, which I definitely am!

Please share what you'd like about your writing (or other creative endeavors), how things went in February, and your plans / goals for March.

Meaning of my Username:

The initials are what I now use as a pen name, and derive from a Star Wars character I invented, enjoyed for a long time, and have now let ease into gentle twilight. The 26 is a reference to my favorite clone trooper (Captain Maze, A-26). So... it is really all just very, very obscure starwarsstuff.

One Meal to Rule Them All:

Shockingly hard to decide. Probably something involving lots of pasta and cheese and maybe seafood? Shrimp alfredo?

Best Gift Ever:

I feel like I should say something deep here and not "the old school Ariel doll I got when I was 9." Hmmm... knowing enough people that I can figure out how to get to dance class even though I can't drive myself. That's even better.

Job I Wanted When I Was Little:

Princess-ballerina-archaeologist faded petty quickly. I discovered I would have to marry someone to be a princess and was like "hard pass," and ballet turned out not to be my thing. So... archaeologist? That sounded great and did in fact launch me on my actual career.

Skill I Want to Learn:

Poi.

I decided to skip the mid-January check in. The middle of the month coincided with the start of the semester, which kicks my ass now that I am chronically ill. By the time I was feeling better, I was like... it's almost February and let's just do that. So! Here we are!

I recently decided to dig into a personal essay series, and I don't know if I will post them, but that has been super productive (for like 2 days, but I will take the win). I am so far failing at work writing, but trying to be gentle with myself. Goals for February include trying to write most days for fun, and do some data tabulation (work stuff) at least 3 days a week.

So! How was your January in terms of your writing? What are your writing goals for February?

Part of me is incredulous that 2024 has arrived, though another part is grateful and hopeful. December (and November, and really all of the fall) were difficult for me, and not very productive in terms of hobby writing. Writing daily is a habit I need to re-build; I will be working on that in January, and trying to get my long covid symptoms better managed (the migraines in particular interfere with my life). Lately, I have been dabbling with a thing I set aside a long time ago, and it is a story I've been hand writing in a journal. It is going nowhere and big chunks of it offer conflicting timelines and similar issues, but there is something comforting about it and it really feels like a thing I can do just for me - I hope that will help me get back on track.

Please reflect on your writing from 2023 and set some goals for January and/or 2024. All aboard!!

How are your writing goals going this month? I am doing... OK with it? Writing on some days, anyway. Which is better than zero, but definitely not every day as I'd prefer. Looks like I know what to keep working on. :)
